365 Things to Do in Austin

236.14 Jacoby’s Restaurant and Mercantile

Mind blown. Stomach full. Was I just on East Cesar Chavez? Jacoby’s isn’t too far off the beaten path, but the lakeside location and general ambiance will make you feel miles away from Central Austin.

Let’s talk more on the location. It sits on the shores of The Colorado River about two miles east of I-35 on Cesar Chavez. Adam Jacoby’s family runs Jacoby Feed & Seed in Melvin, TX, and many of the meats, cheeses and other produce come from the family ranch.
The ceiling and decking are from old barns on the family’s ranch as well, and there are countless other items that have been repurposed to decorate this addition to the Austin culinary scene.
Onto the food. I couldn’t get enough of any of the bites I sampled. There was a cheeseburger slider with Havarti that literally melted in your mouth. They also had an offering of chips with pimiento cheese that served as my favorite starter. The deviled eggs were also a hit. We finished things off with a coconut cupcake- okay, maybe I had about three of them, but they were the icing on the cake to a perfect evening.

In regard to beverages, they have an excellent

wine list and cocktail menu. The Uppercut Punch is both refreshing and delicious. It tastes like summer.

Lastly, it makes me so happy to say that owners are amazing. I spent time talking to both of them and you can tell that every detail of this establishment was thoroughly thought over, and that this truly is their baby. I wish them nothing but success, as I foresee many, many nights sipping cocktails on their patio in my future! Bravo y’all, I’m already planning my next visit.
